HELPFUL CITY TOUR

You will be shown all the useful places you will need to know so as to make your stay in Lorca as comfortable as possible: banks, hospitals, chemist’s, supermarkets, shops, the post office, the town hall, tourist information office, train and bus stations, taxis, bicycles, city bus stops, the university, bars, restaurants, sport centres, etc.

CULTURAL ACTIVITY

Conferences and master classes given by experts in various fields, such as : literature, history, art, music, dance, cinema, current events, folklore, sport, etc. will be held in our L´AJUNTAERA hall at the school.

CULTURAL VISIT AROUND LORCA

An afternoon to get to know some of Lorca’s culture and most interesting sights (the castle, museums, churches, plazas, historical buildings, etc.).

Gastronomy Afternoon

If you curious to find out how wine, olive oil, traditional cold meats and tasty cheeses are made don’t miss this trip! As well as seeing them made you will have the opportunity to taste these healthy and delicious treats straight from Europe’s Vegetable Garden.

Tapas dinner in Lorca’s restaurants and bars

On Monday evenings you will enjoy Spanish leisure accompanied by our team, including a typical Spanish dinner, tasting a wide variety of tapas, and the best wines and beers in the many bars and restaurants of the city.

Enjoy yourself on Wednesday evenings with us in the L’Ajuntaera hall of the school, eating typical Spanish dishes, and listening and dancing to past and present Spanish music in our Spanish fiesta. Have fun and dare to sing songs in Spanish on our karaoke, you will be practicing your pronunciation effortlessly and learn many new words and expressions at the same time, surely an experience you will never forget. We will share the different cultures of all our students with an International dinner, in which each student can bring something he wishes to share with his fellow students, and present a typical dish from his country. By the end of the evening we will have travelled around the world by means of our taste.

Lorca Theatre

Enjoying a theatre show is treat we all can enjoy. With the theatre sessions at Teatro Guerra we will have an opportunity to test out our Spanish.

Actividades deportivas en Lorca

Each Friday afternoon if you like you will be able to play a football match, do a hiking route around the city, try mountain treks in Sierra Espuña, go diving along the Mediterranean coast, do river rafting down the Segura river as it passes through Blanca, or enjoy an afternoon at the beach. There are even bicycles available which you can move freely around Lorca with and reach new places, just by showing your ID and taking responsibility for them. This activity is optional and must be booked beforehand.

EXCURSIONS TO CITIES OF THE REGION OF MURCIA AND OTHER SPANISH REGIONS

MURCIA

Murcia is the capital city of this region, a city with 3 cultures as, since its establishment 750 years ago Arabs, Jews and Christians have all shared its streets and left a great historical and monumental legacy. This you will have the opportunity to admire as you visit its museums, walk its streets and taste its delicious food.

CARTAGENA

This city was founded over 2200 years ago. It’s port is a natural opening to the sea in this region, it’s rich heritage is very impressive and it is beautifully preserved. Since its establishment it has been in the forefront of important historical events.

CARAVACA

We will take you to the holy city of Caravaca, where you will follow the path up to the Vera Cruz sanctuary, and visit the old town. During the month of May, Caravaca celebrates it’s famous Cruz festivals, and you will have a chance to admire the “Caballos de Vino”, a festival that will surely surprise you!

CEHEGÍN

This is among Murcia’s most historical cities. You will enjoy studying the archaeology of this area in the “Begastri” archaeological site, a name the Romans gave this city.

ÁGUILAS

Located 35 km from Lorca, Águilas is famous for its carnivals which are an international tourist attraction, for its historical monuments and for its 32 marvellous beaches.

CIEZA

Cieza has a rich cultural heritage, as well as archaeological treasures that span various periods of history. Rock art, Iberian villages, Roman ruins and the impressive Medina Siyasa, an Arabic city which looks over Cieza from the edges of the Castle and about which there is a permanent exhibition in the city’s museum. Also in the months of February and March its a must to admire the fruit blossoms of the area, a treat for the eyes!

FORTUNA

Relax in the spa with hot springs, which originated far back prior to the Roman period. After this you will be able to enjoy a delicious dinner in the spectacular dining hall, an exact representation of the first class dining hall of the Titanic.

SIERRA ESPUÑA

This is one of the most symbolic natural areas of the Murcia region and has much available for you to enjoy the Mediterranean forests.

PULPÍ

Here we find the second biggest geode in the world, and even better, it’s open to the public.

MEDITERRANEAN COAST

This coast is truly worth seeing, each month we will visit a different part of it: the Mar Menor, La Manga, Cabo de Palos, Calblanque, Bolnuevo, Águilas, Cabo de Gata, and many other enclaves full of environmental value.

VALENCIA

This is a city which has managed to combine traditional and modern life. We will visit the Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias (Arts and Sciences City) with its state-of-the-art buildings. And during the month of March we will have the experience of the Fallas, Valencia’s most famous festival, joined by the warm-hearted Valencian people, and a great paella.

GRANADA

Granada could not be missing from our list of trips, located less than two hours from Lorca. There we will visit the Alhambra, and historic centre of the city. We will eat typical local dishes, and enjoy its ancient culture.

MADRID Y ALCALÁ DE HENARES

These are two cities you will visit during a weekend, if you choose to do a 4 week course. You will have the opportunity to visit the most interesting sights and places of Spain’s capital city, as well as seeing Alcalá de Henares, a World Heritage city, and the birthplace of the distinguished author of El Quijote, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.
